Match Round Up Of NPFL Clubs On The Continent As They Qualify For Next Round In Grand Style

Nigeria Professional Football League teams on the continent put up a decent performance over the weekend in the second leg of this year continental engagement as the four clubs representing Nigeria qualified for the next round of action with convincing victories, Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt won their game on penalty shootout.

Last weekend continental football for Nigeria clubs saw all teams from the league scoring eight goals, six out of which came from home ground. NPFL reigning champions, Kano Pillars thrashed Al Malaika 3-0 in Kano, Warri Wolves crushed Racing Club Bobo by three goals to nothing, The Peoples' Elephant put the icing on the cake in Benin Republic with a one nill victory over their host Buffles Du Borgu, Dolphins edged their opponents via a penalty shootout 5-3 after leading them 1-0 in the entire duration.

Kano Pillars will be playing their next fixture against Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco.

The first 45 minutes saw both teams playing out a barren draw, Enyimba's gaffer, Kadiri Ikhana substituted Ezekiel Bassey for Andrew, Abalogu stole the ball behind the defence and punished the host with his goal in the 52 minutes of the game. Game ended with Enyimba International retuning home with the narrow away victory.

Goals from the trio of Oghenekaro Etebo, Joseph Osadiaye, Freedom Omofoman gave Warri Wolves a massive win over visiting RC Bobo of Burkina Faso as they proceed to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup Competition on Saturday at the Warri City stadium with a huge four goals aggregate. Etebo put the Seasiders in front in the 30 minutes of play Osadiaye doubles the lead after 15 minutes of action in the second half, Freedom dashed the visitors home of coming into the game with his 70 minutes strike.

Wolves will play their next round CAF Confederation Cup fixture against the Dedebit FC of Ethiopia in Warri at the Warri City Stadium.

The Pride of Rivers State beat Equatorial Guinean side Leone Vegetarianos 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate to qualify for next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. Emeka Atuloma scored the only goal of the game for Dolphins via a well taken free kick in the 26th minute of play. Sunday Rotimi became the hero in that game, he made some saves in the entire duration, he also saved one of the spot kicks during the penalty shootout.

The 2014 Federation Cup finalists will be playing against Club African of Tunisia in the next round of the competition.

The first leg of the next round fixtures will come up on the weekend of 13-15th of March, second leg will be on the weekend of 3-5th of April 2015.
