Nigeria international left-back, Gloria Ofoegbu underwent a successful knee operation last week, as predicted by women football sources. It was revealed by a close pal of the overlapping Rivers Angels star that the Imo-born player has been expected to go for a medical operation to fix her knee. According to the source, all is well with the former Nasarawa Amazons player after she went under the knife on Thursday at the Reddington Hospital in Lagos. “Gloria Ofoegbu went for an operation on Thursday. The operation was successful. She is in high spirit at the moment. “The doctors will give an update on her progress. She is expected to be out for more than ten weeks,” said the source. Efforts to reach the ex-Falconets defender has been abortive as she didn't pick her calls when we sought to speak to her on the success of the surgery.

Gloria Ofoegbu is yet recover from a knee injury she sustained when she represented the country at the 2014 African Women's Championship in Namibia. The left-back wasn't considered for the Super Falcons World Cup preparation due to the setback that is reportedly a career threatening one. Fans shouldn't have forgotten the wonderful exploits of the young lady who was an important member of the Falconets teams to the 2010 and 2012 FIFA U20 World Cup respectively. The highlights of her career was the brace she bagged in the 2013 Federation Cup final for Rivers Angels against Nasarawa Amazons and the brilliant free-kick she netted in the 2014 AWC Group game against Namibia. The former Nasarawa Amazons star has served the nation and shouldn't be neglected like that. The cost of the surgical operation is very expensive. The overlapping defender needs the support of the Nigeria Football Federation and well meaning Nigerians.
