NNL: Supreme Court Bags First NNL Away Victory Against Spotlight FC

It was celebration of sorts inside Karkanda stadium located within Katsina state capital, venue of one of the Match day 3 of Nigeria National League; NNL after Supreme Court FC of Abuja spanked Spotlight FC 3-2 in a densely hot weather on Sunday. The shema boys were the same team that held Super Eagles turtored by Stephen Keshi to a goaless draw five days ago on the same ground. NNL: Prime Back To Winning Ways

Prime Football Club bounced back from last week’s defeat against Ikorodu United to secure their second win in three matches. The Omoluabi Giants strengthened their grip in the Nigeria National League with a 2-0 win at home to Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia. Prime influential attacking pair, Chukwuemeka Robert Ogundu and Damola Fakayode, were both on target on Saturday at the Sports Complex of Federal Polytechnic, Ede. Prime went ahead in the 15th minute when Ogundu's acrobatic kick beat Comets goalkeeper Ogoke Kingsley, to goal.  But there was no denying the quality of Prime's second goal, in the 30th minute. Kogi United have secured their first win of the season on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Yobe Desert Stars in Lokoja. The Confluence state club had almost wrapped up the game in first half after gaining a two goal lead from Destiny Ashadi's 14 minutes strike from the spot and a well taken free kick scored by Ernest Governor in the last minute of the first stanza. The second half was not as eventful as the first but Kogi United would still fashioned out the third goal in the 66th minute. Destiny Ashadi collected a through pass from Ismail Mayaki in his half and raced down to goal area before shooting directly to Yobe Stars goalkeeper Victor Philemon who punched it back to the Wada Boys' Number 10 to finished the job and recorded Kogi United's third goal and his brace of the match. Sunshine Stars have been named the winners of the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) Q1 after finishing the top of the Glo Premier League in the first quarter of this season. The Owena Waves, after match day 10 in the Nigerian top flight amassed 20 points, two more than the chasing pack of Kano Pillars and Enyimba in second and third positions respectively. Sunshine Stars won six matches, drew two and lost two while they scored 14 goals, including five of the goals being netted by Tunde Adeniji. They shipped in seven goals from the 10 games played. Kogi United Head Coach, Yomi Elijah has praised his boys' resolve and discipline during their goaless encounter against Supreme Court FC in the Week Two of the Nigeria National League, NNL. LMC Warn Clubs Against Implementing Players,Technical Crew Pay Cuts

The League Management Company (LMC) has asked clubs to refrain from acts that run contrary to the terms of contracts entered into with players.  Chairman of the LMC, Mallam Shehu Dikko in reaction to recurring reports of clubs threatening or issuing ultimatums and threat of sack and deduction of salaries of their players and technical crew, urged the various clubs’ management to seek better creative ways of motivating their players and coaches rather than resorting to strong arm and punitive tactics that run counter to extant regulations guiding players’ contract and wages. The LMC Chairman stated that, "We will work with the Clubs to ensure employment contracts are adhered to within the league structure  and employees rights are well respected. It is against the spirit of the contract terms recommended and deposited with us by all the clubs to introduce these pay cuts. It certainly is a potential violation of the minimum wage condition. LMC To Investigate Three Referees, Six Assistants

The League Management Company (LMC) has lodged a complaint with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Referees Committee against three center referees and their assistants for poor officiating in some of the Match Day 9 fixtures played on Sunday, May 17. The LMC asked  the Referees Committee to have the officials stepped down from further games should they have been appointed pending the outcome of investigations. The match officials are facing allegations of poor officiating, questionable calls and lack of diligence. Foremost grassroots football championship NNPC/Shell Cup Semi Finalists are expected to be in Lagos State this evening  for the semifinal games billed to hold on Friday and Sunday, May 22 and 24, 2015, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Four secondary school teams from different four States in Nigeria made the semi final cut. They are Edo State - Rezheight High School from Benin, Kano State - Government Secondary School, Gwale. Imo State - Rochas Foundation College, Ogboko. Kastina State - Government Day Secondary School, Kofar Yandaka. Head Coach of Kogi United, Yomi Elijah has expressed optimism on his side's chances to gain promotion to Premier League despite 1-1 draw against Spotlight in the opening day of Nigeria National League, NNL season. Kogi United were behind within just eight minutes of the game when Spotlight capitalized on a lose ball in the midfield and Kabir Janaidu raced down to put the ball in the net. The Nigeria National League (NNL) finally gets underway this weekend with 16 breathtaking fixtures across various match center as relegated Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs Kaduna United, Gombe United, Crown FC and Nembe City flagged off their lower division campaign. Interesting games are billed to go down this weekend in the second tier league in Nigeria. Kaduna United welcomes Adamawa United at the Kaduna Township Stadium on Sunday. Spotlight FC attacking midfielder Ikechukwu Uzor has praised his team mates for their level of maturity in the 3-1 victory over Idah United in the round of 64 of the Federation Cup. A brace from Usule Martins and one goal netted by Uzor ensured that the first half ended 3-0 in favour of Spotlight at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium. Giwa Fc head coach, Tony Bulus and striker Ibrahim Shuaibu, have emerged winners of the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) Manager and Player respectively for the month of April. It is the first time that both men will be named winners of the prestigious award, which honours the best players and managers in the Glo Premier League. Bulus claimed the manager's award by fending off close challenges from Kennedy Boboye (stand-in Sunshine Stars head coach for Englishman Paul Ashworth), Abdu Maikaba (Wikki Tourists) and Kadiri Ikhana (Enyimba). NNPC/Shell Cup 2015 Takes Center Stage In Ibadan This Weekend

There is going to be a football festival this weekend. It promises to be a showcase of some of the best youth football in the country. For the first time in the 17-year history of the most coveted secondary schools football championship in Nigeria, the NNPC/Shell Cup, the 10 schools that have qualified for the quarter-finals will assemble in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for a genuine feast of youth football. This new format is been adopted as a bridge for the championship in response to the current political and security conditions in the country by the organizers, the Nigeria School Sports Federation, (NSSF). The over 200 students and their school officials will be housed within the military cantonment at Ojoo barracks where all the matches will also take place over a period of two days – Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17.  The schools that have qualified for this round are from Adamawa, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kano, Katsina, Nassarawa, Ogun, Rivers,  and Sokoto States. FED CUP: Prime Defeats Christ Ambassador 2-1

A quality performance by Waheed Popoola inspired Prime Football Club  to beat none league side, Christ Ambassador Football Club of Lagos, 2-1 in the Federation Cup Round of 64. In the all-important Cup tie, Prime got the curtain raiser after 14 minutes with Waheed Popoola, setting up Damola Fakayode to slot the ball into the net. Christ Ambassador rallied back to level the contest in the 23rd minute via penalty at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta. Prime got the job done in the 44th minute as Christ Ambassador were unable to withstand the firepower of Prime midfield maestro Hakeem Olalere and Waheed Popoola attacking prowess.  It was a performance that was characterized by grit and defiance, and it was epitomized by enterprising Waheed Popoola, who set up Segun Eyitayo, for the winning goal. 2014/15 NNL Season Gets Underway This Weekend

The Executive Board of the Nigeria National League (NNL) has confirmed that the 2014/2015 season will commence this weekend just as the participating clubs have all known their opponents for the opening week. NNL Chairman, High Chief Emeka disclosed this much in a chat with the media in Abuja yesterday after a meeting of the board called to fine tune the commencement of the league on May 16, 2015. He assured that the league which has suffered two postponements will start on Saturday after all the impediments which have bedeviled the early kick-off have been resolved including the decision to allow clubs to pick the bills of the match officials for now. The NFF executive board member regretted the late commencement of the 2014/2015 NNL season and assured that all the lost ground will be recovered, pointing out that the delay was occasioned by the month-long General Elections in Nigeria starting the February 28 Presidential Elections. Secretary to the state FA, Mr Augustine Ogunmola, who announced this in a statement, enjoined the media and other stakeholders in football to visit the site regularly for the most current news on football activities in the state.
