Dogo upbeat ahead of tight Ogunjobi Gold Cupy final

Coach Kabir Dogo is optimistic that Sunshine Stars will beat Niger Tornadoes in the Ogunjobi Gold Cup Tourney final. The 7th edition of the nation's prestigious pre-season tourney comes to its climax today (Saturday) at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, with 3pm as kick off time. Speaking after the Owena Whales emerged victorious against Kwara Utd via a 4-2 penalties after their semi-final tie ended 1-1. "Let me be modest, all the team that has come this far in the tourney can win the final. Tornadoes or Coach Abubakar Bala are not new to me, as I feel we are up against Kwara United again. MFM FC do the double over Sunshine Stars

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC completed the double over Sunshine Stars with a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Tchato Giscard and Stephen Odey in match day 26 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League match played at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium. It was a Southwest affair for the two teams and the derby encounter lived up to its billing as both teams entertained their avid fans with fine displays. The first 10 minutes of the match saw both teams exchanging passes with an intent to get the opener.  Benin Republic sensational midfielder Tchato Giscard received the first yellow card of the match for dissent while Alaba Adeniyi of Sunshine Stars was also booked for a rough tackle on Shola Brossa. SHOOTING STARS BEAT SUNSHINE IN CRUCIAL DERBY

For the second time in as many games, the South Western derby between Shooting Stars and Sunshine Stars was devoid of crowd troubles. The first leg in Akure was the birth of the new era which extended to the end Week 22 of the NPFL between the two teams on Sunday. The game started on a high tempo with homers condemned to win going by their recent indecent results. Fatai Amoo paraded a crack team spearheaded by Sunday Faleye, supported by Ajani Ibrahim and Tayo Adebogun;  with equally experienced reserves of debutants Abu Azeez and Wasiu Jimoh. Also, Sunshine Stars started the match with three of our old players Tope Orelope, Ebitimi Agogu and Adesina Thomas as expected. Olujohungbe showers encomium on Remo Stars Players

  Sunshine Stars Football Club Technical Adviser, Kayode Olujohungbe has showered encomium on the players of Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) despite his side's win in Match Day 18 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Olujohungbe appreciated the Sky Blue Stars pattern of play by saying he never knew that the players were this good. In his words he says "From the reports we got about Remo Stars, nobody ever told us that the boys are this good." "Honestly, their position on the league table doesn't represent their quality at all. They are a good side because they gave us their all because they are a very good playing side." Thomas Adesina's strike in the 14th secures maximum points for Sunshine Stars of Akure in Match Day 18 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC). Sunshine Stars Win NPFL First Quarter League Bloggers Award

Sunshine Stars have been named the winners of the League Bloggers Awards (LBA) Q1 after finishing the top of the Glo Premier League in the first quarter of this season. The Owena Waves, after match day 10 in the Nigerian top flight amassed 20 points, two more than the chasing pack of Kano Pillars and Enyimba in second and third positions respectively. Sunshine Stars won six matches, drew two and lost two while they scored 14 goals, including five of the goals being netted by Tunde Adeniji. They shipped in seven goals from the 10 games played. The Akure club are yet to lose in their last five matches including a win at Heartland and a draw at Nasarawa United. Sunshine Stars travelled to Owerri in match day 7 and accrued three points with 0-3 scoreline against Heartland. Heads didn't roll and there was no case of assault. Report from trusted and reliable sources has revealed that Sunshine Stars steward attacked and assaulted 3SC GM Rasheed Balogun and team coordinator Danfulani. Investigations are ongoing as regard this evil act, and Sunshine Stars will be greatly dealt with by the LMC.

Dolphins Fail To Fly In Akure

  A controversial goal in added time by Prince Aggrey gave Sunshine Stars a 2-1 win over Dolphins in the league on Sunday evening at the Akure Township stadium.   It was a game Dolphins drew last season and when Chiwendu Ali put the Pride of Rivers ahead after 37 minutes it seemed like another day in the office for the 2011 league winners.   Ayo Saka turned round his marker in midfield and passed to Victor Alegbe who in turn freed Ifeanyi Egwim on the left.   Egwim’s cross who struck in ferociously by Chiwendu in only his second game for Dolphins after joining from National Division One side, Go Round FC.   Two minutes later, referee, John Charles called a penalty for Sunshine after a Dolphins defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box, but Tunji Adeniyi shot the kick wide.   At half time, Sunshine Stars coach, Kennedy Boboye brought in Dele Olorundare and he made his impact felt two minutes later.   Joseph Douhadji f...
