The Florence Omagbemi managed side swept to their eighth AWCON title after En Avant Guinean forward Desire Oparanozie struck with six minutes left on the clock to ensure that the Super Falcons retained their continental title in a fully packed Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde. Super Falcons, Saturday in Abuja whipped Nigeria Women Premier League side Kogi Confluence Queens by three goals to nil in a friendly game intended to prepare both teams for the tasks ahead. Ngozi Ebere opened the flood gate of goals when she converted a penalty kick in the 27th minute after Francisca Ordega was fouled in the box. Falcons led 1-0 at half time. Mali will be the Super Falcons’ opponents in the final round of qualifiers for the Women’s Football Tournament of the 11th All-Africa Games, following the withdrawal of Gabon.   Nigeria’s Falcons, champions of Africa, have returned to camp in Abuja at the weekend and will also be preparing for the qualifiers of the Women’s Football Tournament of the 2016 Olympic Games, against the same Malians, as well as the 7th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Canada this summer.   The first leg of the qualifying fixture will take place in Bamako on March 22.

Players and officials of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, will storm camp in Abuja on Sunday, as preparations begin for their 11th All-Africa Games qualifying fixture against either of Mali and Gabon.   Coach Edwin Okon has already called 36 players, who are expected to arrive at the Serob Legacy Hotel, Abuja latest Sunday evening with their training kits, international passports and birth certificates, to kick –start the buid-up.   The camp will also set the tone for preparations for the team’s 2016 Olympic Games qualifying fixture against Mali in May, as well as the 7th FIFA World Cup finals in Canada in the summer.
