NNL: Go Round beat AS Raccine 1-0 to keep pressure on Heartland

Captain Nelson Esor scored in the 16th minute then missed a penalty in the 86th as Go Round FC beat AS Raccine 1-0 to keep the pressure on Heartland FC who currently top the table. Played under difficult conditions with the pitch water logged after heavy rains before the game, Nelson Esor jumped highest to head the ball behind goalkeeper Adeyemi Taiwo. Go Round FC coach, Ngozi Elechi made two substitutions in the game, Onuoha Chikezie replacing George Vincent in the 60th minute and Sesugh Kor going in for Dominic Junior in the 71st. AS Raccine’s Victor Agali took off Odewale Taiwo for Mutairu Idris in the 82nd minute. There was not much action in the 2nd half except for Chidi Nwachukwu hitting the upright late in the game and an 83rd minute penalty given to Go Round FC with less than six minutes left on the clock. Omoleye, Alaji nets in Omoluabi Giants 2-1 win over Go Round FC

Osun United Football Club impressively defeated Go Round Football Club 2-1 in one of the Week 8 contest of the Nigeria National League at the Oshogbo Township Stadium to keep their 100 percent home win streak. Osun United began the game brightly, with Victor Okeji, Dare Olatunji, Hakeem Olalere and Tosin Omoyele, showing flashes.  Omoyele, opened the scoring for the Omoluabi Giants in the 9th minute after he supplied a delicate cross that was deflected on the edge of the box by Kpekpe Chris.  Go Round winger, Nwachukwu Solomon, and lanky striker, Ugwu Onyedinaka went into act of threatening as their pace and dribbling skills ensured they had a foot to stand on as Osun United backline stood strong. Bassey Ezekiel, in the 38th minute almost got an equalizer for Go Round when Nwachukwu, after being put through on goal by, squared the ball to a rushing Ugwu Onyedinaka, who failed to make contact. Go Round FC have arrived in Abeokuta for a date against Ikorodu United in the Southern Conference of the Nigeria National League. The team has had its best start ever in the league, amassing 12 points from its first five matches and president of the side, Felix Obuah, also known as Go Round says his commitment to the team is unshaken. “I am happy with the progress of the team so far and I insist on our target of playing Premier League football and then playing on the continent as soon as possible. “We are the team to beat and we have assembled the best crop of players and coaches too. I have the zeal and belief that we can promote sports. In the last four years we have been chasing promotion, we have learned our mistakes and I know this will be our year,” Obuah said. Obuah happy with Go Round FC NNL stay

President of Go Round FC, Felix Obuah has said he is happy the club remained in the Nigeria National League, NNL, after their inability to gain promotion. Go Round FC chased promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL until two consecutive losses in the 2nd round of the league, away to Unicem Rovers and then home to Remo Stars. Obuah said on Sunday that he wanted the club to qualify to play in the top tier NPFL but failure to achieve that does not change the fact that they had a good season. "At the start of the year, our target as usual was to qualify for the NPFL and we really put our hearts out to achieve that. " But you know that in football, it’s not every time you get what you want but we can't complain because we also had a record breaking year," Obuah said. NNL: Ngodingha, Elechi To Guide Go Round FC

Former Super Eagles first choice keeper and Bayelsa United coach, David Ngodingha will be in the dug-out for Go Round FC as they start their campaign in the Nigeria National League on Friday. Ngodingha is however not head of the coaching crew as he is there as coaching consultant or Technical Adviser. Former Dolphins and Lobi Stars attacker, Ngozi Elechi will continue as head coach of the side for the 3rd consecutive season. Team Manager of the club, Soni Uboh says they are confident in the ability of the coaches. “David Ngodingha remains the technical adviser. Remember he was part of the team that went to the UK and we believe what he learned there will be of immense value to the club. “We also have Ngozi Elechi who is an excellent coach and match reader and was part of a recent FIFA coaching course.
