Smart City Lifts Jagaban Cup

Smart City are the inaugural winners of the Jagaban Cup 2022 after a pulsating 5-4 shootout victory over stubborn Messiah FC in the final of the tournament held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos on Friday night. The two teams tried to cancel out each other before the regulation time but there was nothing to separate them until penalty was used to decide the maiden champions. Smart City proved to more precise in the penalty shootout winning by 5-4. Earlier, 36 Lion narrowly lost the third place match to Ikorodu City via penalty shootouts too after both teams failed to score any goal during the regulation period. Having won five Man Of The Match (MOTM) awards in the Maltese Premier League, Nigerian International and Pieta Hotspur goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu, has stated that his new team will end the season in a good position. Since the 25-year-old joined Maltese topflight side, Pieta Hotspur in July 2022, the former Flying Eagles goalkeeper, has becomes an integral member of the team. JAGABAN CUP: De Potters, Smart City In Fine Start

De Potters and Smart City called the shot at the end of Day One of the Jagaban Cup in Groups A and B of the tournament held for scouting of talents and also to drum up support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2023 General Elections. In the opening Group A game played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, 36 Lion defeated Messiah FC 2-0 through the goals of Odom Chika and Edem Joseph while Smart City pipped Olukismet 2-1 in a Group B tie. Alade Balogun drew the curtain raiser from the penalty spot in the 26th minute for Smart City and he doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute for his second goal of the game. Olukismet reduced the goals arrears in the 49th minute through Abdulrazaq Ridwan. Atobaje Oladeji Names 20-Man Squad For Jagaban Cup

 Olukismet's head coach Atobaje Oladeji has named a 20-man squad ahead of the 2022 Jagaban Cup. “We have picked a strong team that should be able to perform well at the tournament in Lagos,” said Oladeji. The squad is made up of two goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders and five attackers. Fapounda Babatunde and Abdul Korede are the two goalkeepers.  Also making the cut are John Fred, Adewale Lawal, Gbenga Afolayan, Elanya Akonunju, Michael Yusuf,  Ibrahim Yebiboh and Olorunfemi Sesan Draws for Jagaban Cup will hold on Monday 14th November at National Stadium Surulere. LOC Unveils FC Ebedei/ FC Midtjylland Year-End Invitational Tournament Fixtures

Organisers of the maiden FC Ebedei/ FC Midtjylland Year-End Invitational Tournament billed to kick off on Friday November 18, have released fixtures for the event. One of Africa's best professionally administered football clubs, whose products have helped Nigeria win silverware since the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, FC Ebedei, iconic football brand Shooting Stars of Ibadan, and two Nationwide League One (NLO) Tradesafe and Cornerstone FC are taking part in the four-team mini tourney. The FC Ebedei Stadium, Apele-Sagamu and the recently refurbished Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba-Ibadan are the host venues of the five-day FC Ebedei/ FC Midtjylland Year-End Invitational Tournament. Fixtures made available by the Local Organising Committee(LOC) of the tourney informed that Tradesafe and Shooting Stars will lock horns in the first game of MatchDay 1 at 8am, while FC Ebedei takes on Cornerstone FC at 3 pm. President Of Water FC, Nureni Makanjuola has continued to shower encomiums on multi million dollar businessman Femi Otedola ahead of his 60th birthday, describing him as a great man. Femi Otedola a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and former chairman of Forte Oil PLC, an importer of fuel products will clock 60 on Friday 4th November 2022. Grassroot developer, Nureni Makanjuola has blessed over 1000 widows to pray for Femi Otedola in Abuja. He has also visited over 100 churches and mosques at the FCT to offer prayers for the success of the philanthropic Otedola. This gesture was rounded up with buying of five cows which gulped one million naira each and sharing food to over 5000 people in Abuja. Joshua Akpudje Wins POTM Award In Europe

Nigerian International, Joshua Akpude, has been nominated as the Player Of The Month (POTM) for FK Jablonec, in the Czech Republic Premier League. Akpudje, 24, beats off competition from two attacking players from his team;  Vladimir Jovovic, a  28-year-old left-winger and    Jan Chramosta, 32-year-old striker to emerged as the POTM for October,2022. Joshua pulled the highest number of votes with 38 percent, while Jovovic and Chramosta gathered 17/15 percent of the total votes casted, by the fans of the club respectively.
