Taiwo Awoniyi Bags Super 4 MVP Award

Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP)of the pre-season invitational tournament Super 4. The award carries a prize money of 200,000 Naira. Awoniyi, who has a pre-contract with Swedish club Kalmar, scored two goals for the Flying Eagles and his all-round play was exceptional. He is expected to sign a professional contract with the Swedish club in August, when he turns 18. He featured at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup, which Nigeria won in style. The Nigeria U20s, who are preparing for the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal in March, won the six-team tournament in style with 13 points from five matches. They won the competition with a round of games to spare, scored the highest number of goals (12) and were unbeaten throughout the tournament.  Kano Pillars new signing and Nigeria ‘B’ international Christian Obiozor finished as top scorer of the Super 4 with four goals.

LMC Super 4: Highs And Lows

The Super 4 invitational tournament was surrounded with few controversies from some quaters, some persons didn't agree with the competition name for reasons best known to them, some tagged it Super 6, LMC Pre-season tournament, so to them Super 4 is not the best name for the football event. POST MATCH PRESS CONFERENCE: I stand to be corrected,  I don't  think we have had a post match conference in the history of Super 4 or Pre-season games before this present one. I think the LMC deserve some thumps up for that. We hope they make it compulsory for the participating teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League starting from this season. It makes the work easier for some of us who reports the league. Ferdinand To Officiate Final Super 4 Final Showdown

FIFA-badged referee Ferdinand Udoh has been appointed to officiate the final match of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 4 Pre-season invitational tournament. Udoh will be handling the match between the Flying Eagles and the Under 23 national team this evening by 5 pm at the Abuja National Stadium, he will be assisted by Abel Baba, Isah Usman, Benjamin Odey. He has officiated two key fiixtures in the on-going pre-season tournament, he was in charge of the game between Enyimba vs Flying Eagles, game ended 0-2 in the favour of the Under 20, Dream team vs Enyimba, it ended in a one all draw. Ferdinand he's much respected for his athletism, firmness and strict application of the rules of the game, has been selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as one of the referees for the 11th African U-17 Championship taking place in Niger Republic, 15th February – 1st March, 2015.
