NNL Second Round Resume This Weekend As Sokoto United Thrown Out Of The League

Barring any unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Nigeria National League (NNL), the second round of the 2014/2015 league season will resume across the country this weekend. The NNL Executive Board has decided to axe Sokoto United for not following due process and obeying simple rules of the game by settling its differences with appropriate body. According to the NNL Chairman, High Chief Emeka Inyama, the management of Sokoto United FC had been given enough time by the board to do the needful but failed to comply with the directives including several reminders from the NNL secretariat hence it will not be allowed to participate in the second round of the league. The Member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) argued that since Sokoto United did not sort itself out before the end of the first stanza and also failed to use the three weeks break to play its outstanding matches, it will not be allowed to take further part in the current season...

NNL Fines Bussdor FC N.5 Million For Match Abandonment As Sokoto Utd Face Expulsion

The  management of Bussdor FC of Owerri has been fined the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500, 000.00) by the Nigeria National League (NNL) borad for abandonment of match. In addition, Bussdor FC will forfeit three points and three goals for refusal to complete their Week 6 tie against Remo Stars in Ijebu Ode. This was said to have contravened  Article 4.2(4) and 4.2 (5) of the Rules and Regulations of the competition just as Bussdor have been warned to pay within 14 days or Article 4.2 (2) will apply. Meanwhile, NNL has asked  Sokoto State Football Association and  Sokoto United FC to resolve their affiliation saga before one week or the League Management will not have any alternative than to sanction the club as contained in the Rules and Regulations governing the competition.  However, tough matches will be played across the nation this weekend with contenders and backbenchers looking forward to improve their fortunes.   NNL WEEK SEVEN FIXTUR...

Friendly Game: Golden Eaglets Edge Sokoto United 2-0

Nigeria's U-17 team, Golden Eaglets on Saturday beat Sokoto United 2-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna. Kaduna's home boy Suleiman Abdullahi and languid striker, Victor Osimhen scored twice in the second stanza to break the resolve of their more experienced opponents who fought like Trojans throughout. In fact, it took some gallantry display on the part of Sokoto United's goalkeeper Masud Isah for keeping the score line at a respectable margin against the Nigeria National League side. Golden Eaglets soon took over the match moments after Sokoto United took the kick off following signal by referee Patrick Ishaya. Victor Osimhen got Eaglets' first real chance in the seventh minute but saw his shot going over the bar. He also saw goalkeeper Isah held firmly to his well-directed header following a cross by Etiboy Akpan in the 22nd minute. Five minutes later, Isah again foiled the Golden Eaglets when he tipped over the bar Suleiman Abdullahi's goal-bound heade...
