NNL Second Round Resume This Weekend As Sokoto United Thrown Out Of The League

Barring any unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of the Nigeria National League (NNL), the second round of the 2014/2015 league season will resume across the country this weekend.

The NNL Executive Board has decided to axe Sokoto United for not following due process and obeying simple rules of the game by settling its differences with appropriate body.

According to the NNL Chairman, High Chief Emeka Inyama, the management of Sokoto United FC had been given enough time by the board to do the needful but failed to comply with the directives including several reminders from the NNL secretariat hence it will not be allowed to participate in the second round of the league.

The Member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) argued that since Sokoto United did not sort itself out before the end of the first stanza and also failed to use the three weeks break to play its outstanding matches, it will not be allowed to take further part in the current season.

However, actions resume this weekend starting from today (Friday) when Kogi United will tackle Kaduna United at Lokoja Township Stadium while Jigawa Golden Stars will in Hadeija Township Stadium host Soptlight FC from Katsina State just as Yobe Desert Stars will travel to Yola to confront Adamawa United in Division A1.

In the three other divisions, there will be tough ties with the ABS FC and Niger Tornadoes FC match in Ilorin a star game of the weekend even as FRSC FC will ambush Gombe United  at Area 3 Sports Ground in Abuja in Division A2.

Elsewhere, struggling Go-Round FC will host Crown FC of Ogbomosho at Krisdera Stadium in Omoku, Rivers State while Prime FC may compound the woes of Bussdor FC which has not been impressive all weeks in the first round in Division B1.

In Division B2, MFM FC will travel to Ogbomosho to ballet Atiba United while First Bank FC will square up with Nembe City at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
