Rivers United will look to put their title ambitions back on track when they face Warri Wolves on Saturday as the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Wolves are currently one point off the drop zone and are in dire need of points. United, on the other hand know a win would boost their chances of an unlikely league triumph as well as raise confidence levels. Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos suffered their first defeat in four Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches on Sunday against Warri Wolves Football club of Warri in Delta State. It was a bad day in the office for the Olukoya Boys at the Warri City Stadium despite dominating the game in the first five minutes. MFM fc got a free kick three minutes into the encounter, it was taken by Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, but Warri Wolves goalkeeper, Rhogbere Tejiri pushed the ball away for a corner kick. Warri Wolves only shot at goal in the first half came in the 10th minute of the match after a fine build up play as John Odumegwu effort hit the cross bar. Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Warri Wolves on Sunday afternoon at the Warri City Stadium dazed Elkanemi Warriors 5-0 in a rescheduled game of match day 4 and moved to the 4th position on the league standing. Going into this game, the Seasiders looks like an house on fire having won their last three matches in a fashionable way compare to the visitors who only picked a point out of possible nine in their last three games. Paul Aigbogun's men took the lead in the 8th minutes of the game through former Crown FC of Ogbomosho forward Onyekachi Okafor. LMC Reprimands Delta FA, Sanctions Warri Wolves, Team Manager and Player

Nigeria Football Professional League governing body has reprimanded the Delta State Football Association for not ensuring adequate and proper security at the Warri Township Stadium during the Match Day 17 Glo Premier League match between Warri Wolves and Enyimba International. Warri Wolves FC, its Team Manager and player were also subjected to disciplinary measures for various breaches of the Rules and Framework during their rescheduled Match Day 7 fixture in Ibadan against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC). The sanctions are part of the latest measures by the League Management Company (LMC) to enforce compliance to the league rules by all participating clubs and their players. These decisions were conveyed to the various parties through letters signed by Salihu Abubakar, the Chief Operating Officer of the LMC. NPFL Teams Return To Continental Action This Weekend

Nigeria’s flagbearers in continental competition return to action this weekend, with elite division champions Kano Pillars staring down the barrel of a huge task at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  They host Moroccan side, Moghreb Athletic Tetouane with a whole four goals deficit from the first leg at the Stade Saniat Rmel on March 21.  Chairman of the Pillars’ Champions League Campaign Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has expressed confidence that the Nigerian champions will overcome the huge setback and sail into the next round.  Nigeria’s other CAF Champions League representatives, Enyimba FC will depart the country on Friday for their return leg clash with Smouha FC of Egypt, scheduled for Sunday. The new boy in the Seasiders squad was listed in Paul Aigbogun's starting 11 against Giwa Footbal Club of Jos in the rescheduled fixture of matchday two of the NPFL at the Warri City Stadium on Wednesday. and he put a great debut performance with two goals and one assist that saw his team winning their second game of the season comfortably with a three nill victory. CAF CONFED CUP: Wolves Earn 2-0 First Leg Victory Over Dedebit

Warri Wolves FC defeated Dedebit FC of Ethiopia 2-0 on Saturday in their CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg match at the Warri City Stadium. Nigeria U-23 team striker Etebo Oghenekaro scored after eight minutes, but the expected avalanche refused to materialize as the Nigerian representatives then found it difficult dominating their opponents. Wolves had dismissed Racing Club Bobo-Dioulasso 3-0 in their preliminary round, second leg clash at the same venue, but struggled to get past Dedebit, who pumped Cote d’Or of Seychelles home and away in the earlier round. Returnee forward Gbolahan Salami made the scoreline respectable for the Nigerians when he tucked in a penalty kick awarded the Nigerians 10 minutes to the end. The return leg will take place in Addis Ababa in two weeks.

The weekend continental football for Nigeria clubs saw three teams from the league scoring six goals, three out of which came from away ground in the encounter between Al Malaika FC and NPFL reigning champions, Pillars won 0-2, Warri Wolves also pipped Racing Club Bobo 0-1. Former First Bank Football Club of Lagos forward, Alimi Adewale Sikiru relishes his Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 4 experience with Warri Wolves. The Warri based side was part of the six teams that participated at the just concluded Super 4 invitational tournament in Abuja with two national teams, the Dream Team VI and the high Flying Eagles. Paul Aigbogun's men didn't put up a fine performance at the tournament, they managed two wins from five matches but there's one player who could not but savour his moment with the team after his team finished 6th from the tourney ahead of Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt who failed to nick a point from the pre-season games. This weekend saw two key players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Warri Wolves leaving the bachelor's hood to start a family. Gbolahun Salami played a pivotal role in Wolves third place finish in the just concluded NPFL season which eventually qualified them for CAF Confederation Cup next season, he scored plenty of goals for the Seasiders, found his way into the senior national team of Nigeria and recently,  he bagged the award for  the best national team playerf of the year at the 2014 League Bloggers Award in Lagos last week Monday. Salami on Sunday became a man when he said his byes to bachelor's hood and joined in matrimony with his heartthrob Lolade in Lagos in a colourful wedding event that took place at the Glover memorial hall, Tinubu, Lagos Island. Wolves To Retain 23 Players

Warri Wolves Football Club has sent 23 names to CAF for registration towards the forthcoming CAF Confederation Cup assignment while 12 others have been asked to look elsewhere to ply their trade as the Club prepare for the coming season. Arising from a meeting which was chaired by the Managing Director, Davidson Owumi on Monday, Management also concluded that there would be no screening rather, the Club will upgrade two players from the feeder team who are adjudged to be good enough to play in the Premiership,  recruit three young  players from Delta State, and sign five players which have been invited and discussion almost concluded. The Club also agreed not to release the names of those who have been asked to go and also those who are coming in until a later date but they should be informed that there services are no longer required.
