SGFC Athletics Emerge Champions Of Evolution Cup

  SGFC Athletics have emerged the champions of the maiden edition of Evolution Cup after defeating Beyond Limits in the final 5-4 on penalties. The final of the NLO pre-season invitational tournament played on Saturday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne  saw a display of soccer artistry at its best. Beyond Limits drew the first blood in the game when Dimeji Dada fired them to the lead with a sublime strike in the 32nd minutes. It was all Beyond Limits affairs in the first half as they dictate the pace of the game from end to end- even as they failed to make most of their chances. The SGFC boys would have their goalkeeper, Sdoje Daniel thanked as he stood between the sticks, saving them a lot of damages SGFC regained their hope in the game when their second half substitute, Hyginus Wisdom scored in the 46th minutes to give them a leveler.   The Nigerian national women's basketball team, D'Tigress are to receive a cash reward of N25 million from the Federal Government for winning the 2020 Afrobasketball Championships in Cameroon. Nigeria's D'Tigress beat Mali in the final of the Championships in Cameroon last year to win the Afrobasketball women's title for the third time in a row. After the victory, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare recommended that a token of appreciation be given to the African queens of the courts for doing the nation proud, a request that has now received the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.
