Prime to resume on Monday

Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Prime Football Club will resume training on Monday February 8, 2016 in preparation for the new season. The spokesperson of the club, Tunde Shamsudeen, confirmed the development after the board meeting of the Management Committee of the team, and said the team will thereafter map out the 2016 programmes. "We are reporting back to training on Monday February 8, to prepare for the new season, we have asked our players to report to camp February 7, which thereafter will strategies on how best we shall approach the season," he told newsmen at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.  Prime finished fourth on the NNL Zone B standings having missed promotion by whisker on the last league day. However, the Omoluabi Giants management has re-activate the existing ‎kit deal with local manufacturers Owu sportswears for the new season.

Aregbesola pledges support for Prime

State of Osun Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has assured the management of the state owned team, Prime Football Club of his 100 percent support for the team next season. Governor Aregbesola, has put to rest the peddling rumour that Prime Football Club would be disband due to the financial crisis rocking the state. Aregbesola, while receiving the triumph Osun Under 13 players in his office during the week said though it was painful as Prime failed to secure one of the Globacom Premier League tickets but, stated that he believe in the managerial prowess of Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi led management. He charged the management to ensure they recruit exceptional and discipline players next season, who will be good ambassador of the state as he promised to support the team where need be. "I will continue to support the team, I am given you my word, and let me know whenever you need my support," Aregbesola said.

Prime players, officials get five months salary arrears, Ogunjobi commends Gov. Aregbesola

It is Naira rain for players and officials of Prime Football Club as they received five months salary arrears from the backlog owed the club.  The players and officials of the 2012 Federation Cup Giant Killers played the 2014/2015 season on empty stomach but sustained with home and away feeding allowances.  Prime missed promotion to the Premier League by whisker to end the just concluded season fourth on the table log. However, the management of the Omoluabi Giants has commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola, for paying part of the months salary arrears owed the club.  Prime FC chairman, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, who confirmed payment of the five months salary arrears to newsmen yesterday in Oshogbo said that the governor had kept to his promise by paying salary backlogs.  Ogunjobi, who spoke through the club Media Officer, Tunde Shamsudeen, said the salary arrears paid to the team is a true reflection of the fact that Governor Aregbesola is a man of his words.  Og...

Prime Football Club missed good opportunity to secure their first away victory on Saturday against Ekiti United Football Club, as the team missed glaring chances to bury the game in the first half of the Week 9 fixture of the Nigeria National League (NNL) The Omoluabi Giants made a strong start to the game quickly finding themselves and they could not capitalized on some good forward play in the most part of the game. Prime attackers, Robert Ogundu and Wale Bello, missed hatful of chances in front of goal. Ekiti United winger, Tosin Olabode, scored the consolatory goal, in the 52 minutes. Prime Compound Bussdor's Relegation Woes

Bussdor Football Club of Owerri, chances of remaining in the Nigeria National League suffered a major blow when they lost 1-0 to Prime Football Club on Saturday, a result that leaves them at the bottom of the table log.  The Owerri side started the Nigeria National League Week 8 tie strongly and managed to win a couple of possession in the early minutes of the game, but poor shooting on the part of the forwards did not help their course. The Omoluabi Giants step into the game with Abdullah Fatai, Hakeem Olalere and wonderkid, Kehinde Adebayo, exerted their presence in the game and took control of proceedings. Prime Football Club booked their place in Federation Cup Round of 16 after a 3-2 penalties victory over Julius Atete Football Club of Warri. It was a dramatic evening of FA Cup action which was decided on sudden-death penalties as Prime goalkeeper Ayo Ojo, secured his side victory from the spot. J. Atete survived defeat in the full-time by scoring a late equalizer from goalkeeper, Edafe Vincent 86th minute penalty at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium. Prime having taken the lead through Segun Eyitayo's 20th minute strike dominated proceedings with coordinated passes and moves from Kehinde Adebayo, Olalere Akeem, Daniel Israel and Fatai Abdullah, to end the first half with a goal lead. NNL: Prime Placed 7 Players On transfer

Prime Football Club have let go seven of its players and have been asked to look elsewhere to ply their trade following a major shake off in the team ahead of the Nigeria National League second round campaign. The management of the Omoluabi Giants retained 26 players and the players have been advised to justify their stay in the club or be shown the exit door at the end of the season. According to a statement from the team, the secretary of the club management committee, Layi Adeshiyan, said the technical crew have informed the management of their decision to drop the players from the team for low productivity and gross indiscipline.  Adeshiyan, who is the Director of Sports Osun State Ministry of Youths, Sports and Special Needs, thanked the dropped players for helping the team before now and wished them success in their future endeavour stressing that the drop became necessary following the ongoing restructuring in the club to cut expenses. “The technical crew have giv...

NNL: Omoluabi Giants End NNL First Stanza On High Note

Prime Football Club found their scoring touch in the second half to end the first round of the Nigeria National League on a high note against Bussdor FC of Owerri, Tuesday evening.  Bussdor made an energetic start and capitalized on a defensive blunder for Oliver Tochukwu to struck the opener in the 5th minute at the Aba Township Stadium. Prime after conceding the early minute goal remained the more purposeful side, exploiting the pace of their wingers to break forward.  After 38 minutes, as the Omoluabi Giants laboured for creativity, Wale Bello was brought on to replace Olabisi Olagunju, who added firepower to Prime's attack.  After the interval, Prime raised their game and immediately forced a breakthrough. NNL: Prime Back To Winning Ways

Prime Football Club bounced back from last week’s defeat against Ikorodu United to secure their second win in three matches. The Omoluabi Giants strengthened their grip in the Nigeria National League with a 2-0 win at home to Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia. Prime influential attacking pair, Chukwuemeka Robert Ogundu and Damola Fakayode, were both on target on Saturday at the Sports Complex of Federal Polytechnic, Ede. Prime went ahead in the 15th minute when Ogundu's acrobatic kick beat Comets goalkeeper Ogoke Kingsley, to goal.  But there was no denying the quality of Prime's second goal, in the 30th minute. Stand-in captain, Abdullah Fatai, won the ball from Comets attacker, to launch a rapid counter-attack, Mamud Akorede took the ball forward and then exchanged passes with Ogundu, and Damola Fakayode collecting a superbly-weighted return ball, before sliding a precise shot under Comets goaltender.  Prime were superior in the first half and went in at the ...

FED CUP: Prime Defeats Christ Ambassador 2-1

A quality performance by Waheed Popoola inspired Prime Football Club  to beat none league side, Christ Ambassador Football Club of Lagos, 2-1 in the Federation Cup Round of 64. In the all-important Cup tie, Prime got the curtain raiser after 14 minutes with Waheed Popoola, setting up Damola Fakayode to slot the ball into the net. Christ Ambassador rallied back to level the contest in the 23rd minute via penalty at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta. Prime got the job done in the 44th minute as Christ Ambassador were unable to withstand the firepower of Prime midfield maestro Hakeem Olalere and Waheed Popoola attacking prowess.  It was a performance that was characterized by grit and defiance, and it was epitomized by enterprising Waheed Popoola, who set up Segun Eyitayo, for the winning goal. The Church side, laboured in vain in search for the equalizer. Prime will lock horn against J. Atete FC of Warri, who whitewashed Sunshine Stars 3-1 in the round of 32.
