Sports Ministry In Race Against Time To Host Sports Festival And Maintain Amazing Record

He is not the type that likes eating his words, if he must eat something, he has a rich dose of delicacies prepared by the best cooks with total patience, purpose and pride. But with the thrice postponed National sports festival, Nigeria sports minister, Sunday Dare already has his back to the wall as he seeks a way out of a unending logjam.  In the last two days, he has been running from Pillar to post to satisfy his conscience and please over 8,000 anxious athletes and officials who wake up daily waiting to know what tomorrow holds for them and their fluctuating future.  In a society full of the many uncertainties of life, sports has suddenly moved from being just a pastime, to a profession and means of livelihood and to imagine that another generation of budding talents could be wasted and allowed to rust and ruin because of the inability of the host state to stand up to the challenge of hosting or the failure of government to put their money where their mouth is, is another reason

8,000 Athletes for Edo 2020 Festival - Minister

The much postponed  Edo National  Sports Festival  will  go ahead as planned from  April 2nd- 14th with 8,000 atheletes  taking part, Minister  of Youth  and sports Development Chief Sunday Dare has  assured.  Speaking in Benin on Friday after undergoing a tour of facilities and a meeting  with  Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Chief  Dare Said"  On April 2nd, 2021, the camp for the Edo Festival  would be opened, on April 6th the official opening  of the Festival by Mr President would  take place. But beyond  that,  we are also working  closely with the PTF, NCDC and others  to ensure that the necessary  support we need in terms of vaccination of atheletes, test kits  will be available. We are also toning  down the number of athletes  that would be participating from 14,000 to 8,000. Marathon Will Put Ijebu On A Global Front — Tunde Odulaja

  The coordinator for Heritage Group for the Ijebu heritage half marathon, Tunde Odulaja said the maiden edition of the Ijebu heritage half marathon will put Ijebu on a global front.  Speaking after the meeting with Bukola Olopade, Chairman of Nilayo Sports Management Limited last Friday. He said, “The marathon will create awareness for tourism, health, and fitness as well as commercial value to people around Ijebu.” In the interview, Tunde Odulaja appealed to the state government to create enabling environment for a successful marathon. He said, “It will be a lot of hard work but truthfully, we also need the government to ensure that we have a good outing and enabling environment with infrastructural development round Ijebu areas is in good stead so that we can showcase our state to the world.” He rounded off with a message to all Ijebus. Nigeria’s foremost marathons and road races running company, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, has set July 17, 2021 as the new date for the maiden Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon after a meeting in Ijebu Ode on Friday.  Bukola Olopade, the Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports disclosed on Friday after a meeting with The Heritage Group in Ijebu Ode that the Ijebu Marathon will be called Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon.  Speaking after the meeting, Olopade shower encomiums on The Heritage Group.
