Glo NPFL Weekly Diary: League Venues Record Improved Spectatorship At Week Two

As the Glo Nigeria Professional Football League concluded it's matches in the week two of the 2014/2015 season, reports from most of the centers indicated an improved turnout of spectators across the venues.

This might not be unconnected with the observed free, fair and firm officiating recorded in week one and as consolidated in the week two matches, with corresponding security measures on ground.

The introduction of Referees assessors, improved officiating as well as the fans base development strategy of the new LMC board headed by Shehu Dikko may have lifted the standard of the league so far in the early stage.

Available reports monitored across the centres in week two showed an appreciable increase in the number of fans that watched the league matches.

In the Kano Pillars versus Bayelsa United Match held at the Sanni Abacha stadium in Kano, the Nigeria champions maintained their unprecedented turn out as the stadium was filled to capacity.

At the Kwara stadium Ilorin, fans trooped out enmasse despite the fact that the kwara united match against Elkanemi was beamed live on satellite television.(supersports)

The encounter between Sunshine Stars FC and Gabros international at the Township stadium Akure witnessed a near filled to capacit stadium as the stadium was thrown opened for fans to cheer the Akure side to a last minute 2-1 victory.

Although the fans at the Lekan Salami stadium Ibadan were disappointed with 3SC 1-2 home loss to visiting Heartland Of Owerri, the number of spectators were high as they trooped out enmass to watch their first home match in the premier league after promotion from the lower division.

It was same good news from other centres like Enugu, Uyo and Lafia, with fans and clubs commending the level of officiating so far in the league as well as the improved security at the centers which accounted for no incident report recorded.

Majority of the Fans expressed satisfaction with the level of officiating and security so far but called on the league body LMC and the Club Owners to ensure that it is sustained to the end of the season.
