ATHLETICS: AFN All-Comers To Serve As Invitation To Golden League

The Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has said the two All-Comers Competitions will serve as a means of invitation to the Federation's Golden League.

The Technical Director of AFN, Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama, made this declaration while talking to reporters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, venue of the ongoing African Junior Athletics Championship.


Nesiama said the meet would afford the Federation the opportunity to access Athletes for possible selection into the World Relay team coming up in the Bahamas on May 2, 2015.


"We have decided to use the two All-Comers meet to select Athletes for the Golden League in May, " he said.

"The date for the 1st All-Comers was changed to March 14 because of the general election and we want the Athletes to know that the Federation is looking at the possibility of using the event as a means of inviting athletes into the World relay team in Bahamas."

Speaking further, the Technical Director said hencefort, there would be doping control test during all AFN organised meets.

He said: "The Federation is taking a hard stance on doping and I am using this opportunity to advice our athletes to stay away from any form of doping,"he warned.
