Zikiye Remain Optimistic Ahead Of Continental Debut

Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt left full back Jonathan Zikiye has assured Nigerians that the Pride of Rivers will come back home with a good result as he look forward to making his first continental engagement.

The Port Harcourt based team we will be up against Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea in their first encounter of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup this Saturday at the Estadio de Malabo by 4pm Nigerian time.

Stanley Eguma's men didn't live up to expectations at the Super 4 invitational tournament held at the Abuja National Stadium but Zikiye who should be featuring for the 2014 Federation Cup finalists for the first time in his football career has boosted that his team will not disappoint Nigerians.

The former Nembe City player said" We are positive that something good will come out of our game at the end of the day.

"We have put the Super 4 outing behind us and have been working hard towards getting a good result and a better outing from this competition, we pray that God will grant us His grace,"he opined.

Zikiye further emphasised that his team must play as a unit and remain focus for the entire duration of the game if truly they really want something out the game.

"If we must have atleast a point on the road against Leones Vegetarianos then we have to play as a unit and keep our focus throughout out the duration of the game. I know it won't be that easy but we will give it our best,"he told olawale.blogspot.com.

Dolphins have featured in three CAF Confederation competition before now, this will be their fourth outing on the continent, they made it to the final in their first continental experience in 2005 and lost the final clash to FAR Rabat of Morocco.

The confederation cup campaigner returned back to continental football two years after their glorious experience, in 2007 and 2008 respectively but they bowed out from the group stage and in the second round in relative manner.
