Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, team manager, Oladimeji Lawal must learn how to be more professional in handling situations when it comes to referees decision hence the newly promoted Oluyole Wariors may relegate to the Nigeria National League.
The final battle of the 2015 Gold Cup sees 3SC and Sharks FC of Port Harcourt trading tackles yesterday in Ijebu-Ode at the Dipo Dina Stadium, the Ibadan based team lost the Gold Cup to the Blue Angels 3-2 after 90 minutes of one all draw.
The ex-International put up a-not-too-good act yesterday when the centre refeere awarded a spot kick to Sharks few minutes to end the first half, Shooting Stars protested the refeere's decision but guess what? The team manager who didn't handle the protest in a professional way according to reports gathered from a journalist who saw the game live.
Micheal Onikute is a Multimedia Sport Journalist, he was at the stadium to witness the match proceedings. He was highly disappointed with the behaviour of the Shooting Stars team manager Dimeji Lawal.
Micheal wrote on a popular Nigeria Leagues group page with over 10,000 members.
"Discipline Key in our Clubs.
"When will our clubs learn to be professional and accept the decision of the referees in good faith?
"Sharks FC was awarded a penalty in the Gold Cup Final which would have brought the game to level terms and surprisingly Shooting Stars Team Manager Dimeji Lawal was quick to instigate his players to walk off the pitch even in a preseason encounter.
"We need to inculcate discipline in our players,"he advised.
Another Multimedia Sport Journalist, Adepoju Tobi Samuel, who analyses the Nigerian League on Channels TV and Top Radio 90.9Fm Lagos, he was privileged to know how Dimeji Lawal got the team manager's job, he was pissed by the action of the former Shooting Stars midfielder.
He wrote" I have read many articles from Dimeji Lawal about how 3SC should be run as a professional club on this forum, but lets ask him what has he contributed? He didn't deserve to be called a professional leader, appearance count. Anyways, he disappointed is profession today," he stated.
However, a source who preferred to be anonymous made case for Dimeji Lawal, he believed the refeere didn't do well in that game.
He revealed to olawaquadry.blogspot.com "3SC were leading them 1-0, the other player dived, referee has already called for free kick he then changed his mind that it's a penalty, the lines-man was even dragging with him but he insisted that he has taken the decision.
This is not the first time Dimeji Lawal will be doing this, he did same thing when Bolowotan FC played against 3SC in one the Gold Cup prea-season games , Shooting won the 5-1.
The secretary of the Lagos based team wrote
"Dimeji Lawal and his crew did the same thing against Bolowotan when when free kick was awarded to Bolowotan. And I took the picture of them while dey were on the pitch," she added.
Shooting Stars is big brand in the Nigeria Football, there's therefore an urgency for the management of Shooting Stars to call Lawal to order before the 2015 Nigeria Professional Football League gets underway. So that this ominous act won't repeat itself again.
