NPFL Resumption Date Intact As Clubs Get February 20 deadline For Players' Registration

The League Management Company (LMC) has announced a registration deadline of February 20 for clubs to submit their licensing documents for the 2014/15 Nigeria Professional Football League season which will commence on March 7. The documents include proof of no debts carried over, financial guarantee and medical passport of players.

Salihu Abubakar, the LMC Chief Operating Officer (COO) announced this in a statement on the LMC official twitter handle and said the clubs have been put on notice that mid-week fixtures will hold to accommodate the socio-political developments in the country.

“As part of the registration process for the new season, Clubs are to mandatorily provide a quarterly Financial Performance Guarantee of N50m which is a condition for licensing to participate in the league. Clubs that are in a position to provide a one-off Performance Guarantee of N200m is also encouraged to do so”, Abubakar stated. Clubs must provide the Financial Performance Guarantee on or before March 5, the LMC have stated.

It further advised Clubs to note that they are only required to affirm the retention of old players while filling out the registration form for only the new players.

“The LMC will register players for clubs only if there is satisfactory evidence of no indebtedness to the players carried over from last season. Clubs must therefore attach proof of meeting all financial obligations to their staff to be qualified to register new players”, Abubakar clarified.

The LMC also advised Clubs to ensure that every player to be registered must complete medical check-up and the medical report should be filled out on the same old Medical Examination forms issued last season for players.

“Fresh medical certification must be provided for all players using same medical forms provided last season and these shall be attached to the registration materials being submitted by the clubs”, Abubakar noted.

FIFA Hit Banik Ostrava With Transfer Ban Over 36 Lion's Outstanding Transfer Fees

FIFA have sent the Czech Football Association a letter in which they slammed a transfer ban on Banik Ostrava as a result of outstanding dues to 36 Lion Football Club. The ban will only be lifted when Banik pay the outstanding dues they owe the Lagos based club for the transfer of Tijani Muhamed on 1st July 2023. The letter received didn’t specify the number of transfer windows that Banik will be banned from, but only clarified that it is due to the former Flying Eagles striker deal with the Czech Republic top flight team. Muhamed, 23, is a product of 36 Lion. He joined Slavia Praha from Banik during last summer's transfer window for €1.26m according to Transfermkt.com.
