NNL: Omoluabi Giants cruise past Anaedo Lions


Osun United Football Club continued their fine run of form, defeating Nnewi United Football Club 2-0 on Saturday at the Oshogbo Township Stadium in one of the Week 6 matche of the Nigeria National League. 

Coach Duke Udi, featured the same starting line-up that secured a valuable point away from home against First Bank FC on Wednesday.

Nnewi United Christian Molokwu had a great opportunity to test Osun United keeper Ayo Ojo, in the 14th minute after beating an offside trap, but his shot was parried to corner. 

The Anaedo Lions almost got the opening goal in the 24th minute as Augustine Ezeh, capitalized on a defensive blunder to go one-on-one with Ayo Ojo, but missed the golden chance, as his placing at the near post going just wide of the goal.

After the awful miss, Osun United went on pressing for an opener, and grabbed it in the 31th minute, after a scramble in the Nnewi United area, with Tosin Omoyele, setting up Adeyemi Adeyeye, to increase his season tally to three in six games. 

In the 36th minute Ayo Ojo, was at his best to deny Molokwu, goal bound effort. 

Coach Udi, in the second half introduced Mamud Akorede and diminutive midfielder, Hakeem Olalere, who both went into act of terrorizing to give Osun United more power play in the attack. 

Olalere in the 74th minute dribbled his markers to set up Dare Olayunti who perfectly slotted in the second goal to send the impressive fans into wide jubilation. 

Adeyeye in the 83rd minute almost got a brace but Chidiebere was at his best to parried to corner.

Osun United are now fourth on the ladder, having garnered ten points from possible eighteen points and will be guest to Gateway United Football Club on Wednesday at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode.
