Katsina state FA Chairman Aminu Kurfi says boat trip from Yola to Cameroon is very safe

NFF technical committee member, Aminu Kurfi arrived Garoua, venue of Super Eagles group matches at the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off this Sunday in Yaounde.

The multi millionaire politician has more than enough money to travel by air straight to Cameroon from Abuja, but instead, he once again proved his humility as one of Nigeria's finest administrators, by joining members of the supporters club and other die-hard fans of the Super Eagles to travel by boat to Cameroon.

Cladded in his up and down babariga outfit, the former chairman of Katsina United football club, left home very early on Saturday, boarded a flight from the Nnamdi Azikwe international Airport Abuja and arrived Yola in good time for the boat trip to Garoua.

On his arrival at the Yola Airport, Kurfi  who is popularly known as Dan Arewa or Balele by his admirers,  took a motorcycle straight to the waterside where he entered a canoe for the onward journey to Garoua

Speaking after the close to 4hours journey, Kurfi said it is mission accomplished.

" This a mission I set out to accomplish and I must say I am very happy that I av achieved my aim. I want to prove to the international committee that peace has returned to most of these northern towns described as death trap by most European countries. Once you mention Yola or Maiduguri, many believe you are talking about a war zone. However that is not the case as must people now go about their daily life routine without fear of attack or molestation"

"Like other countries, we have our shortcomings but the present government is doing everything humanly possible to secure the lives and properties of every Nigerian"

"Today, I drove on a bike through the city of Yola and later traveled by boat to Garoua venue of Nigeria's Nations Cup Qualifier with Cameroon. I am here not only as a member of the technical committee or chairman of Katsina state FA, I am also a key stakeholder and a big supporter of Nigeria football"

"Remember that in 2019, I played a key role in Nigeria's campaign at the Nations Cup in Egypt. At that xompetition, we gave it our very best from start to finish and ended up winning the bronze medal"

:This time around, we want to go a step further by qualifying for the finals. I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to all football fans to support the team and our local coaches because the success of this team is success for all.

The Super Eagles will begin their quest for a 4th Nations Cup trophy on Tuesday when they file out against the Pharoahs of Egypt in Garoua.
