Dolphins Get 2012/2013 Entitlement

Glo Nigeria Professional Football League side, Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt finally get their entitlements from the Rivers State Government following a continuous protest to the State Government House.

 
Dolphins’ General Manager, Joe Johnson says the governor of Rivers State has done well to make sure the players are paid their entitlements.

 
Johnson, speaking on behalf of the team said in his office on Tuesday that their bit is to thank the governor and the people of Rivers State for having sympathy for the players who kept on protesting for their wages to be paid.

“Last Friday we were all at government house and his representative, Hon. Dakuku Peterside came out to address players of the three teams.

 
“He announced that the governor had approved all of the 2012/13 signing on fees owed the boys and I can only just thank the governor and Rivers people for that gesture.

 
“The governor for approving the payment and the people of the state for being sympathetic to the cause of the players. The commissioner, who also pushed the papers through deserves to be thanked too,” Johnson said.

Johnson added that the incessant protests affected the players who at one point were second on the table. He also adds that every player, both old and new will be happy about the arrangement.

“The truth is that the money approved was just for 2012/13 season and we have players who joined us this year so we are working out an arrangement that will ensure everybody will be carried along in the disbursement of the funds.

“The strike is over, the players are back in training and we believe that by the time they attain full fitness they can do well in Lagos against Enyimba in the Federation Cup final against Enyimba,” Johnson said.

 
At the office of Dolphins on Tuesday, the General Manager, accountant and Secretary were busy compiling names of those eligible for the signing one fees especially who played for the club last season but are no longer on the books.
