BASKETBALL: Zenith Women’s League resumes Sept 7

Basketball lovers are in for another exciting round of amazing basketball action as the second phase of the 2019 Zenith Bank Women’s League comes alive in 4 different venues on Saturday September 7, 2019.


The apex women’s basketball league which uniquely has been divided into four conferences will see 27 teams battling for a place in the Conference finals.


In the North Central Conference, unbeaten Nigerian Customs women with 7 wins so far this season will hope to surmount the onslaught of Air Warriors and Plateau Rocks who are second and third on the table with 6 and 5 wins respectively.


In the South East Conference, table toppers MFM Women’s team under Aderemi Adewunmi  will hope to stay strong and pick one of the available tickets before Sunshine Queens,  IGP Queens, Coal City Queens, Delta Force and First Deep Waters.


8 teams will be competing in the North West Conference holding at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.


The Liberty Stadium Ibadan Centre will have fierce rivalry with Dolphins of Lagos and First Bank Women’s Basketball Club who are the defending league champions slugging it out against Ogun Babes and Oluyole Babes.

  Super Eagles star trio of Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika on Thursday paid a surprise visit to their boyhood club, FC Ebedei, Apele, Sagamu in Ogun State. FIFA Hit Banik Ostrava With Transfer Ban Over 36 Lion's Outstanding Transfer Fees

FIFA have sent the Czech Football Association a letter in which they slammed a transfer ban on Banik Ostrava as a result of outstanding dues to 36 Lion Football Club. The ban will only be lifted when Banik pay the outstanding dues they owe the Lagos based club for the transfer of Tijani Muhamed on 1st July 2023. The letter received didn’t specify the number of transfer windows that Banik will be banned from, but only clarified that it is due to the former Flying Eagles striker deal with the Czech Republic top flight team. Muhamed, 23, is a product of 36 Lion. He joined Slavia Praha from Banik during last summer's transfer window for €1.26m according to Transfermkt.com. The transfer fee should have been paid over several installments; however, Banik failed to meet the deadlines as regards the fee meant for 36 Lion.  Muhamed started his professional career at Banik after joining from 36 Lion ahead of the 2018/19 season.
