Nigeria-born Striker Gets Benin Republic Call-up




Nigeria-born and Wikki Tourists FC striker, Akpo  Efeneja Godwin, has been called up to the Benin Republic National Under-23 team, for the upcoming Olympics qualifiers.


Akpo was named in the Beninoise squad for the qualifying matches coming up this October, after his decent performance in the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.


The Insurance graduate from the University of Lagos State, had a decent run for the Bauchi team and helped them to finish well in the just concluded NPFL season.


Having featured for Jeunesse Sportive D' Agonlin, the forward has had stints with club in Cyprus, Sudan and Iran, before joining Wikki Tourists in the second stanza of the 2022/23 NPFL season.


The 6th striker began his playing career at the Weekend Soccer Academy and was coached by late Paul Hamilton.
