Ogun State Agog As NWFL Super 6 Kicks Off

The dead have risen, weak have become strong as Egba indigenes anxiously look forward to Super 6.

The stage is now set for the much talked about NWFL Super 6, a competition that will decide Nigeria's representative to this year's WAFU Women's champions league zonal qualifier and hopefully, decide Nigeria's representatives in the first ever CAF Women's champions league.

The sleeping town of Abeokuta in Ogun state woke up Sunday, with excitement written on the faces of the young, the old, the weak and the strong as the most powerful woman in football administration in Nigeria, (or perhaps Africa), Aisha Falode, accompanied by chief operating officer Dupe Shabi and board member Joe Amene touch down at the Dipo Dina stadium, venue for this year's NWFL Super 6 competition.

The pitch smiled in appreciation, the goal posts danced in acknowledgement and the side flags waved in anticipation of what will be one week of exciting football spiced up with good dribbles, fantastic goals and heartwarming celebrations.

A few meters away from the stadium, some old men and women displaying broken brown teeth came out, brandishing long chewing sticks as they waved to confirm their support and indicate how happy they are that during their lifetime, the heroes of Women's football will be gathering in Abeokuta after over two decades of patient wait

Impressed by the reception and thrilled by the attention, Aisha Falode walked majestically on the lurch green pitch dressed in the latest NIKE tracksuit, made specially for football elites.

The black mask struggled to conceal her beauty and the face-cap gave the dressing a touch of class and panache.

For every word she said, men and women nodded in appreciation. A 75 year old man could not hold back his excitement as he walked closer, held her by the hand and muttered some words of prayers.

After all the doubts, the criticisms, the attacks and the denials, football has emerged the biggest winner as Aisha Falode and her board have won another battle against sworn enemies who daily conspire to ridicule her efforts and frustrate her good intentions.
