NNPC/SHELL Cup Knockout Rounds Takes Center Stage In Ijebu-Ode.

This was revealed at the Media Centre of the Teslim Balogun stadium which played host to the media conference of the tournament.


This is the tournaments 19th edition and all hands are on deck to make it a success as it has always been.


The preliminary rounds began in May; during which the states competitions where held and completed, and ended on June 3rd. And to avoid 3rd Term examination, Knockout rounds and finals have been scheduled to run from June 15 - June 29 in Ijebu-Ode.


To expose the players to latest training techniques, Coaching clinics will also be held by Feyenoord Rotterdam's Youth Academy, for the four semifinalist between June 24 - June 26. The school coaches won't be left out too. As there'll also be  coaching sessions for the game masters and coaches from the champions of the 36 state and FCT to ensure that skills acquired are spread across the country.


In an address by Mr Igo Weli, General Manager External Relations, The Shell Petroluem Development Company of Nigeria Limited: This year, a total of N8.2 million is awarded towards the development of sport facilities in the top four schools, with the 1st place winner getting N3.5m; 2nd place winner, N2.3m; 3rd place winner, N1:3m and the 4th place winner getting N1.1m. Also, two Most Valuable Players will be going to The Netherlands to train with the Feyenoord Rotterdam Youth Academy.

On completion of secondary school education, the top 10 talents will be eligible to compete for NNPC/SHELL University Undergraduate Scholarships.


Speaking at the event, Iconic Nigerian footballer, Chief Dr Segun Odegbami thanked the management of Shell Petroleum Development Company for their relentless partnership even with the current economic situation of the country and their quest to help take youths off the streets at a time like this.
