Few weeks ago, the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr, extended an invitation to two players, Stephen Odey and Olatunbosun Sikiru of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club of Lagos for two international friendly matches, against the Senior National Teams of Corsica and Togo respectively, before the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Uyo coming up on Saturday.
The duo who played in the two friendly matches couldn't make the final squad for the qualifier game against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa. They returned home on Friday and were part of the squad that played against FC IfeanyiUbah in Matchday 22 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium on Sunday.
Sola Adebayo is one the highly rated sport pundits in Lagos, he's popularly known as Sports Pedal. He was at the Soccer Temple when the NPFL leading scorer, Odey and league leading assist provider, Olatunbosun and their teammates halted the Anambra Warriors 8 games unbeaten streak with a 1-0 triumph.
"The Olatunbosun Sikiru I saw over the weekend at the Agege really shown maturity and brimming with confidence, that's what being invited to the Super Eagles can do to a player's game. Surely his best is yet to come.
Sola further stated "As for his strike partner, Stephen Odey ,I don't think he is missing anything at all, his runs on and off was top notch, his positioning was a threat to the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Centre back all day, I only noticed that he needs to step up and work on his chances converting rate, because defenders now know what he can do, and coaches will conjure tactics to nuetralise his potency so he shouldnt expect a smooth ride he enjoyed in the first half of the league.
"This time arround he needs to work more , and convert all his chances but he may not have many coming his way."
