NNL:Osho Fatai Excited With Kogi United 1-0 Win Over Former Club
Delighted Kogi United Head Coach, Fatai Osho has said his side's slender margin victory over his former club, Supreme Court was as important as a 10-0 victory.
Osho, who joined Kogi United in the mid-season in the ongoing Nigeria National League, NNL faced his former employer for the first since leaving the Abuja based club.
The entertaining match which lived up to the billing and expectation of close to 5000 spectators was decided by the 53rd minute spot kick converted by Captain Afolabi Abiodun which gave the home side the total victory.
The former Remo Stars' handler who described the encounter played at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja as a game of two kids of the same father noted that the Wada Boys would build on their dominant form ahead of the trip to Damaturu.
"I'm the happiest human being earth, because its like you have two kids, and you have guests then you called those kids to come and entertain your guests, at the end of the day, the guests were so impressed, ask me who gets the credits, its the father of those kids.
I'm just like a father to both teams, this is what I expected from the game, they played so well with Kogi United having much upper hand, but I think the fans really enjoyed themselves today, Supreme Court really did well, to be honest, the coach there now hasn't really changed much, you can see they make good use of the ball but because of psychological approach of playing away games, they didn't really come out to play, they laid back too much but when they have the ball, you will noticed they are good team, we are going to build on this and I'm sure we can use this form to get a good result from the next match," Osho said.
Asked about his strikers creating few scoring chances, Osho jokingly blamed Jose Mourinho for inventing "parking the bus" style of defending which he said was employed by the Apex Court boys.
"I think we should asked Mr. Mourinho about that, he started the parking the bus, and that's what we saw today, when you have about seven defenders in a match, you should know it will be difficult to score, they know what I can do, they just waited in their goal and wanted to break us on the counter, we were so aware of that and guide against it, for us to have gotten the goal, I'm so impressed, this 1-0 is like 10-0 to me."
Chairman of the Confluence State club, Abdul Sule who described the victory as well deserved expressed optimism of his boys beating the drop at the end of the season.
"Good game for me, 1-0, three points, it was a difficult game because they (Supreme Court) know how we play because Osho was their former coach and they know what he can do, but its a well deserved victory.
"For now, we are in top form and I believe the boys will take this form to Damaturu to get what we want by God's grace, all we need is prayers and support from fans and supporters," the former Stationery Stores striker added.
It will be a long trip for Kogi United as they will be facing Yobe Desert Stars in their midweek encounter.
