Nigeria Deserves Structured League, Says GTI Boss Ine Nelson

Strategic partners of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), GTI Grouphave revealed that their mission is to put in place a structured, reformed and transparent football ecosystem in the country working with the Interim Management Committee (IMC).


The Executive Director of GTI Asset Management & Trust Limited, Ine Nelson, gave the assurance while speaking to a section of the media recently in Lagos.


He affirmed that it is the vision of the company to also make the league contribute at least 0.5 percent to the nation’s GDP in the next couple of years.  


Ine noted that the league is a national asset which belongs to Nigerians and if well nurtured would blossom into big business in the country.


Ine further stressed that GTI’s involvement is already yielding dividends given the gains the NPFL has made in just a few months of the IMC coming onboard.


“GTI took up the challenge of restructuring the league at a time we felt NPFL deserves better attention from Corporate Nigeria and other football stakeholders in the country. What GTI has done in these few months using The Nigeria Football Fundas its vehicle, depicts a bright future for our beautiful game. Today our league is progressing massively and getting global attention, thanks to the Nigerian media.


“From available statistics, the NPFL is now very competitive, tough and by our projections in the next few years, we would be up there competing with some of the best leagues in the world. The performance of Rivers United FC at the ongoing CAF competition is a testimony that the quality of NPFL is on the rise,” Ine concluded.

FIFA Hit Banik Ostrava With Transfer Ban Over 36 Lion's Outstanding Transfer Fees

FIFA have sent the Czech Football Association a letter in which they slammed a transfer ban on Banik Ostrava as a result of outstanding dues to 36 Lion Football Club. The ban will only be lifted when Banik pay the outstanding dues they owe the Lagos based club for the transfer of Tijani Muhamed on 1st July 2023. The letter received didn’t specify the number of transfer windows that Banik will be banned from, but only clarified that it is due to the former Flying Eagles striker deal with the Czech Republic top flight team. Muhamed, 23, is a product of 36 Lion. He joined Slavia Praha from Banik during last summer's transfer window for €1.26m according to Transfermkt.com.
