We Will Beat Insurance In The Presence Of All Stakeholders- Remo Stars

By Adewale Ajayi

A top official of Remo stars football club of Ogun state has boasted that the club have what it takes to beat Bendel Insurance and claim one of the NPFL Slots available but he insists, that they want to do so in style at the Rangers stadium.

The official who spoke on condition of anonymity, threatened that Remo stars will only file out for the match with Insurance, if and only if the match is played at the Rangers International stadium in Enugu.

He wondered why anybody will want to take the match to the UNEC stadium, when it is very obvious that this is the star match of the day as the other fixture involving 3SC and Ekiti United is a no match.

When this reporter sought to know why Remo stars don't want to play at the UNEC center, the official said the pitch at UNEC is very bad and that the venue is not ideal for a match of this magnitude. He stressed further that matches involving Remo stars and Bendel Insurance in the just concluded season have always brought up key talking points and it will just be right to allow both teams play in the open, where good officiating and maximum security is guaranteed.

It is on record that if not for the chairman/CEO of Remo stars FC, Otunba Kunle Soname whose company, Bet9ja, helped when it really mattered, the NNL season wouldn't have come to an end.

Ordinarily, Remo stars should have qualified automatically for the 2021/2022 NPFL season following their fine finish on the NNL log but league organizers in their wisdom decided that the Super 8 remains the best option to decide which four teams will qualify for the NPFL.

That was how Bendel Insurance, got the invitation to participate in the Super 8 despite not finishing in the top two.

*"We will not want to mention names but we have called all those involved and we have given them our words. Nobody, I repeat nobody can take us for a ride. We are aware that they are partners with the Edo state government, we are also aware that the stadium in Edo state was built by top shots in the Glass house. Well there are allegations that they have promised to compensate the state with a slot in the NPFL but we also have a stake. They know what we have on paper, they know we can hold them by the balls and if they think they can frustrate us, we will be waiting for them elsewhere"*

*We are one of the biggest stakeholders in Nigeria football and we will not allow these people to ridicule us for their personal gains* he concluded

Further investigation by NSM MEDIA also revealed that the North initially kicked against the Super Eight, and insisted that they will not be a party to it. Our informant said after series of meetings, an agreement was reached and all northern teams were grouped together.

As at Thursday afternoon, key NPFL club owners including the chairman Isaac Danladi and the Secretary Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka have arrived Enugu to drum up support for Remo stars. These men do not only appreciate the fact that Remo stars have the players and the financial muscle to compete in the top division of Nigeria football, they also see Kunle Soname as a leader and former colleague who has great passion for the beautiful game.
