Sunday Dare: Youth And Sports Ministry Will Explore All Viable Options To Attract Investors

Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Sunday Dare has restated the dogged posture and commitment of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to rehabilitate,  reposition and revamp our  various sporting centres for podium performances through public private partnership funding.


To this end, Hon. Dare emphatically stated that the Ministry, with strong political will,  has urgently  initiated several processes that are already  under consideration with relevant Government agencies to actualise our set goals.

Hon. Dare hinted on  this policy direction at the occasion of the 2020 Budget  defence of the Ministry held with the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports  at the National Assembly Complex, Three Arms Zones in Abuja,  today.

In the course of responding to the Senate Committee members commentaries on the parlous  state of our stadia, the League Management Company and Grassroot Sport, the Minister averred that private funding of sports is very crucial to attain the desired level of attracting investors and engaging potential corporate organisations  that would trigger impactful  content for sports development.

Furthermore, the Ministry, according to Hon. Dare,  will also leverage  on the adoption of sports centres and Athletes through the process of engaging eminent personalities in the country  to achieve the drive of revamping  our Stadia facilities around the country, with positive consequences on empowering our athletes and youths for optimal performance in Sports.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, Distinguished Senator Obinna Ogba pledged the commitment of members to assist the Ministry actualise it's mandate and vision for national cohesion and socio-economic Empowerment. Moreso, ensuring that the Ministry's budget for  2020 receive a  positive consideration at the Appropriation Committee level.

Hon. Sunday Dare's appearance at the occasion of the 2020 Budget Defence, which held today, had the full retinue of the Permanent Secretary, Mr Adesola Olusade,  Directors  of  the  Ministry , Director General of the NYSC and Officials of the Ministry in attendance.

FIFA Hit Banik Ostrava With Transfer Ban Over 36 Lion's Outstanding Transfer Fees

FIFA have sent the Czech Football Association a letter in which they slammed a transfer ban on Banik Ostrava as a result of outstanding dues to 36 Lion Football Club. The ban will only be lifted when Banik pay the outstanding dues they owe the Lagos based club for the transfer of Tijani Muhamed on 1st July 2023. The letter received didn’t specify the number of transfer windows that Banik will be banned from, but only clarified that it is due to the former Flying Eagles striker deal with the Czech Republic top flight team. Muhamed, 23, is a product of 36 Lion. He joined Slavia Praha from Banik during last summer's transfer window for €1.26m according to Transfermkt.com.
