REVEALED: Junior Ajayi is Ideal striker for Super Eagles says top NFF Official
A top Nigeria Football Federation official who prefer to remain unknown has disclosed that Junior Ajayi is the ideal forward for the Super Eagles ahead of the next edition of FIFA World Cup tagged Russia 2018.
Ajayi who made his Super Eagles debut against Serbia National team few weeks ago has been a key member of Al Ahly since joining the eight-time African champions from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien in 2016 was described as the perfect striker for the Super Eagles ahead of Russia 2018.
"Football on the pitch of play is about transition among the players. Some new players due to age or their pace may not fit into the transition of the team, but Junior Ajayi fitted in perfectly into the transition of the Super Eagles.
"He was good, very good in training and Rohr would have given him more time if the Super Eagles were not trailing behind in the game against Serbia.
"Rohr had to field Ighalo because the Super Eagles were chasing the game. The original game plan was to play Ajayi more in the game.
"Rohr is interested in taking players to the world Cup that will also be relevant in the national team after the World Cup. We are thinking of AFCON 2019 and a player like Junior Ajayi represent the future . He is a natural number 9, a pure striker."
The top official concluded by saying "the truth of the matter is that Nigeria sporting media is missing out in the real deal for the World Cup. Obafemi Martins was everywhere in the media that he should be invited to the Super Eagles, but my brother ,Junior Ajayi is the ideal striker to be considered for the Super Eagles if we want to be sincere to ourselves."
