Ex International Cup: FC Nwosu Through To Quarter-Final

FC Nwosu are through to the quarter-final of the Nigeria Ex Internationals Cup after dramatically edging FC Amoo 10-9 on penalties. The star studded FC Nwosu got their goals from Namory Keita and Ishola Olaitan, while FC Amoo netted thanks to Mubarak Mustapha's brace. It meant the game was 3-3 on aggregate. Goalkeeper Samuel Oriola was the hero in the shootout. FC Dosu 0-2 FC Agali FC Agali stunned FC Dosu 2-0 to march on against all odds. The tricky pairing ended 4-3 on aggregate. Hajji Gafar, 9 Other State FA Chairmen Visits Recuperating Tijani Babangida

Chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, Friday morning, joined the delegation of nine other States FA Chairmen including Kwara, Jigawa, Yobe, Benue, amongst others, in paying a condolence visit to the grieving and recuperating PFAN President Tijani Babangida, MON. It could be recalled that the former Super Eagles and Ajax Amasterdam star was involved in a ghastly accident on the Kaduna-Zaria road, which claimed the lives of his younger brother Ibrahim and his one- year old son. The States FA bosses while condoling with Babangida, who also sustained a serious leg injury, prayed that God grant him and his family, the strength and fortitude to bear the losses. On his part, Hajji Gafar, noted that football as the world's most unifying factor, should continued to be used to further promote peace, unity and progress, amongst the people.

Adepoju Fathia, a student of Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo, Osun State has been selected to represent Nigeria in the Secondary Schools Female Football Competition in China. Established in 2021, the Lanreleke Sports Academy is a co-educational, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School.  Fathia, a 15-year-old and exciting football prodigy was selected by the Nigeria School Sports Federation NSSF) for the 2024 International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School Cup for girls, which will hold in Dalian from May 16 to 27. SWAN Confers NLO With The Most Improved League award

The Nationwide League One will be conferred with the Most Improved League award by the national body of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).  This was contained in an official correspondence sent to the NLO and signed by Ikenna Okonkwo, Secretary-General of the Sports Reportage body.  According to SWAN, the nomination of the Nationwide League One as the Most Improved League in Nigeria, had been ratified by the National Executive Committee of SWAN after the screening committee's scrutiny which found the League worthy of the prestigious honour, based on its consistent track record of obvious improvements. The formal conferment of the prestigious award on the NLO will take place during the Council Meeting of SWAN on Thursday May 2, 2024, in Kano. The Chairman House Committee on Sports, Honourable Ekene Adams, has expressed disappointment over the delay in the payment of allowances of Team Nigeria athletes at the recently concluded African Games in Ghana. Nigeria finished second at the Games behind Egypt surpassing her previous record with a total of 47 Gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze medals. According to the lawmaker representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, it is very sad that many of these athletes who made us proud in Ghana have not been paid their due allowances and bonuses. "I am very shocked that up till now some of these athletes have not gotten their money days after the conclusion of the African Games. NLO Reveals Three Technical Partners

The Nationwide League One (NLO) on Thursday announced its technical partners in Abuja, to drive referral revenue, generate quality leads, and accelerate growth in Nigeria’s third-tier domestic football division. The Chairman of NLO, His Excellency Silas Agara, named three technical partners: Sofascore, SportsMeetTech, and Naemosports.  Sofascore, a Croatian sports-tracking platform with over 25 million active monthly users worldwide, has partnered with NLO to assist in bringing on board all other leagues in Nigeria. This partnership is not based on any monetary value but on shared benefits in developing the league.  SportsMeetTech, an IT firm, will develop a website and social media channels for all NLO clubs. They will also train club officials on how to manage the sites and commercialize them to generate funds to support their clubs. The revenue will be shared between NLO, clubs, and SMT.
