Hajji Gafar, 9 Other State FA Chairmen Visits Recuperating Tijani Babangida

Chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, Friday morning, joined the delegation of nine other States FA Chairmen including Kwara, Jigawa, Yobe, Benue, amongst others, in paying a condolence visit to the grieving and recuperating PFAN President Tijani Babangida, MON. It could be recalled that the former Super Eagles and Ajax Amasterdam star was involved in a ghastly accident on the Kaduna-Zaria road, which claimed the lives of his younger brother Ibrahim and his one- year old son. The States FA bosses while condoling with Babangida, who also sustained a serious leg injury, prayed that God grant him and his family, the strength and fortitude to bear the losses. On his part, Hajji Gafar, noted that football as the world's most unifying factor, should continued to be used to further promote peace, unity and progress, amongst the people.

Lanreleke Sports Lanreleke Sports Academy Prodigy Listed For Female Football Tourney In China

Adepoju Fathia, a student of Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ileogbo, Osun State has been selected to represent Nigeria in the Secondary Schools Female Football Competition in China. Established in 2021, the Lanreleke Sports Academy is a co-educational, fully residential and specialist Senior Secondary School.  Fathia, a 15-year-old and exciting football prodigy was selected by the Nigeria School Sports Federation NSSF) for the 2024 International School Sport Federation (ISF) World School Cup for girls, which will hold in Dalian from May 16 to 27. The Project Manager of Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, and Proprietor of the co-educational and sports academy, Engr. Olalekan Adeleke shared his delight as he noted.  "We are delighted that Adepoju Fathia, an SS2 Student from Iwo, Osun State made the final selection.  "We are also not surprised at her football career growth as she is hard-working, dedicated and has the zeal to be the best. SWAN Confers NLO With The Most Improved League award

The Nationwide League One will be conferred with the Most Improved League award by the national body of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).  This was contained in an official correspondence sent to the NLO and signed by Ikenna Okonkwo, Secretary-General of the Sports Reportage body.  According to SWAN, the nomination of the Nationwide League One as the Most Improved League in Nigeria, had been ratified by the National Executive Committee of SWAN after the screening committee's scrutiny which found the League worthy of the prestigious honour, based on its consistent track record of obvious improvements. The formal conferment of the prestigious award on the NLO will take place during the Council Meeting of SWAN on Thursday May 2, 2024, in Kano.
