Rivers Angels gaffer Edwin Edem Okon tinkered his wards to six games without defeat in the first stanza of the 2016/17 season, the only coach yet to be defeated so far.

Bayelsa Queens playmaker, Tessy Biawho became the first midfielder to bag a brace in the 2016/17 NWPL season. The former Flamingoes dazzler scored twice in the 2-2 draw her club played against Sunshine Queens at the Akure Township Stadium.

Sunshine Queens winger, Innocent Patricia scored the match winner as the Owena Mermaids edged Ibom Angels 2-1 on March 25. The strike was her only shot on target in the matchday 1 fixture.

Confluence Queens skipper Tobi Olanrewaju found the back of the net from a free kick as the New Direction Queens walloped Osun Babes 3-0 in Lokoja.

A last-gasp strike from Reuben Charity ensured that Ibom Angels shared the spoils with Rivers Angels in the matchday 2 of the 2016/17 NWPL season. The game ended 1-1 in Uyo.

Sunshine Queens duo, Akudo Ogbonna and Onyebuchi Goodness Ihuoma played every minutes of the team's six games in the first stanza. Consistent!

In her first start of the season, Ikeh Ginika showed quality with a fine strike as Nasarawa Amazons thumped Pelican Stars 3-0 at the Lafia City Stadium.

  Super Eagles star trio of Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika on Thursday paid a surprise visit to their boyhood club, FC Ebedei, Apele, Sagamu in Ogun State. FIFA Hit Banik Ostrava With Transfer Ban Over 36 Lion's Outstanding Transfer Fees

FIFA have sent the Czech Football Association a letter in which they slammed a transfer ban on Banik Ostrava as a result of outstanding dues to 36 Lion Football Club. The ban will only be lifted when Banik pay the outstanding dues they owe the Lagos based club for the transfer of Tijani Muhamed on 1st July 2023. The letter received didn’t specify the number of transfer windows that Banik will be banned from, but only clarified that it is due to the former Flying Eagles striker deal with the Czech Republic top flight team. Muhamed, 23, is a product of 36 Lion. He joined Slavia Praha from Banik during last summer's transfer window for €1.26m according to Transfermkt.com. The transfer fee should have been paid over several installments; however, Banik failed to meet the deadlines as regards the fee meant for 36 Lion.  Muhamed started his professional career at Banik after joining from 36 Lion ahead of the 2018/19 season.
